E-Waste

Many types of electronic products used in the workplace and and at home contain hazardous substances such as lead and mercury. When these products reach the end of their useful lives or become obsolete, some are considered hazardous waste. In general, hazardous waste may not be normally disposed of along with everyday trash. Instead, it must be sent to a facility where it can be recycled, stored, or properly disposed of.

Electronic hazardous wastes (e-wastes) are different from industrially generated hazardous wastes in the sense that almost every individual, institution, and business generates them. Proper management and recycling of e-waste reduces the risk of these hazardous wastes harming the environment.

Computers, Monitors, Laptops, Copiers, LCD's, Plasma TV's, CRT TV's, and VCR’s are common electronic products that can be reused, refurbished, or recycled. Unfortunately, Electronic Discarding is one of the fastest growing segments of our nation's waste stream.
